My sump plan.

    that will work just fine, just remember to size the sump in proportion to your return pump and overflow's output.

    personally I like the refugium first, then the skimmer, then the return pump.

    the reason I state this is because I run a DSB (deep sand bed) in my refugium, with lots of macro algae- even a clean up crew down there, it works very well for me.

    Personally I would put the return in the middle. But what you have is fine there too.

    well in my experience, if the refugium is first it helps macro grow very rapidly because of it's location in the water chain- macro survives on detritus and such, this also takes a small load off your skimmer, and allows for the cleanest possible water to be returned to your main tank, along with the most o2 exchange. Macro algae will consume both phosphates and various forms of nitrogen (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate).
