Oh no!!!! What causes this. Just happened. I was hooking up my Kessil controller for my Kessil 360ws and when finished noticed swimming sideways. Color changing a little with stripes on its side. Tested water yesterday and everything is great. Didn't do anything inside tank today. I did add an open brain yesterday.
I know this isn't good. Ich is probably next because stressed.

swimbladder damage is possible when a fish is stressed... What did your nitrates read? What size tank do you have. How big is your tang (Your Tang could be unhappy with swimming limitations.?

Swimming sideways is normal with my tangs. Post a pic. My tangs swim all kinds of directions, kinda funny actually. I don't believe nitrates is the issue at all. Your tank is definitely big enough for a tang so those two theories need to be thrown out.

I wasnt sure because of lack of parameters specified. but...assuming Ballgame has reason to believe the Tang is stressed, Tank size was my first thought..
