Those are actually made for growing plants(IMO). They have no UV shield(splash guard) and I'm not sure about Sylvania ballasts for aquaria. You would need to install them in a hood, but you still need the glass or (uv resistant)acrylic separating the light from the water. I know they are sufficient for plants. The only thing I like about them is they are UL listed. Not telling what the bulbs are...... IMO, I wouldn't

All that light is made up of is a iron core transformer 25.00 and a 5.00 box and a 10.00 reflector and a 5.00 mogul socket and on a 3 ft tank that will not push light no where near deep enough , On my old 750 I ran 4 1,000 and 4 400's and 4 250's and that was just 30" deep but very wide and long you need to go with some nice reflectors like the LUMEN MAX ELITE MOGUL'S or the LUMEN MAX ELITE HQI . A 36" tanks takes some power and refraction to light it all the way to the botom

No it can be easily done but not with that light set up what do you have for a tank ? 280 or 300 gal ? if you go with 3 maybe 4. of the proper reflectors and good bulbs like the SPS at 400 watts and along good strong actinic VHO or T5 then you will be good to go. But all I was saying is that set up will not do much at all..

no i wish i had a 300-400 gallon tank unfortunatly lol my tank is only 47 gallon. i was hoping with my 150 metal halide lamp and buying another 250 metal halide lamp it would be enough for my tank to prosper

36" deep and just 47 Gals? I have 40 gal I think it is fuge 30x12x30 I think it is ? heck just get a reefoptix fixture HQI and a 14K SPS 400 watt bulbs and you will be fine , I assumed at 36" deep it was a large tank , Thats what happens when I assume :) I was think width and length and at 36" deep that equals a larg tank..
