This is complicated. The Mazarra S series was cheaper (on my 55), but still works (no controller, so each module has to be programmed individually). Also, there is no weather simulation on these. This makes the tank look awesome and dynamic--realistic. The S series only has 2 light channels (white/blue) and 4 time-points--big boo.

The Mazarra P series is killer--but more expensive (my quad+controller was 2k new). It has a weather mode simulating clouds and rain, dawn/dusk mode to simulate sunrise, It has a controller that connects modules wirelessly, and it has 8 timepoints. The P series has 4 channels, instead of 2, including a true actinic. The tank looks fantastic under these lights.

Major plus for both--they operate EXTREMELY cool with little electricity. No heat at all--you can put your hand on the light itself in the middle of the day. They also grow corals well--I've not had any problems with any corals yet.

Major downside--the mounting kits are cheaply built and expensive. Should be fine on a 36", but doesn't fit right on a 48". The ball joints are not well designed, so you may have to do some hardware hackery to get things right.

Another downer is the instructions suck--but CoralVue will help you if needed.

    Still worth it!

If you can hold off--the Mazarra X series is coming out, and I think they have fixed some of the problems: Mazarra X LED spied behind the scenes of ReefStock .

Some of the highlights for the X: No more controller. You will have a master module and slave modules. One module controls all of them in automatic mode. Which means--cheaper. I heard rumors that they are dropping back to 6 time points in the X series, however, so maybe the P is the way to go.

I was actually waiting on the X. You've convinced me, thank you for the help.
