I have a 75 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump. I have a AquaaMaxx P-Skimmer, 2 little fishies phosphate reactor, auto top off, Marineland Fliter, and 3 Active carbon filter inserts in my sump.
I'm currently changing my active carbon filters every month, my Protine skimmer like every 2 weeks, scrubbing my walls every other day or so, 1 month 25% water change.

What do you guys think I should be doing more of/less of? Things I need to do that I'm not?

    +1. I do 10% weekly.

However, we could use a few more specifics-- what kind and how much livestock do you have? Do you use RO/DI water? What type lights do you have and what is your lighting schedule? How often do you change the bulbs?

I use RO/DI, UV sterilized water. So your saying like 10 gallons a week change? My lights are 2x250watt MH on 12/12 light, and 2x54 watt T5 blue. They are off now trying to grow some C algae. Bulbs are less then 200hrs old. But I was told every year to change.

all i do in my tank is change 5 gallons of water a week in my 150, invested in a good skimmer, and grow cheato..

for your lighting i would only run the halides about 7-9hours and let the t5s stay on for 12on and 12 off, this should help out alot with evap also..

you shouldnt have to dose anything, coralline will grow under good water params and time, also seeing good coralline is a good indication that corals will thrive, under the right lighing.

hopefully your having to empty your skimmer cup at least once a week, or you prolly need to have it skim more wet.. my skimmer cup holds around 2ish litres of skimmate and that is cleaned once a week and its pretty full at that time..

in this hobby the one thing ive learned, unless your having to dose supplements alot..a reef tank is simple to keep as long as you keep your salinity stable..and change water once a week..and with an ato you shouldnt have any problems with the salinity

I've done a lot looking around and I will start a weekly 5-10 gallon water change. I found my skimmer was in about 10" of water when it should be about 8". It was running a whole cup every 2 days but not dark. So I raised it about 2 inches and it looks like it's working well. I was told it's best to clean the neck and cup once a week. I've now bought 10 active carbon filter pads to rotate every 2 weeks after they build up. I scrub my walls almost every day and wipe down the salt build up almost daily as well because I think I'm OCD about the salt evaporation I just hate it. ;D
