Well as many know....I had some renegade fish that decided to turn on my corals, mainly my LPS and my clams. These were not the typical fish to eat corals...red sea sailfin, regal tang, scribbled rabbit along with others. So this weekend I went fishing and got rid of those fish. I had moved some corals into other tanks, covered others with strawberry baskets, etc.

I traded those fish in for a large purple tang and 3 lemon drop cardinals

this picture from some reason looks like he has ick but he doesnt...I have a ton of tiny tiny airbubbles and need to clean my glass

here is 2 of my cardinals...all 3 are out but only 2 hang out together at one time

these fish look much better under the acentic lights...they are a dull yellow and have big blue patches and eyes!

My clams are starting to open their mantels again

my open brain has finally opened up nicely. It was a rock when I moved it to another tank...it is home again in the big tank

    my duncans are opened again

and even my acans are starting to puff back up. Here are a couple of them

My next step is to fix the plumbing problems in the tank..which will hopefully control the bubbles that are going through and will unclog my one drain!

I am sorry to hear of your misfortune but do remember this I have read several articles talking about the Purple Tangs can turn on the LPS corals. I have many in my tank and I to now have a purple but it is a chance I am willing to take. Good luck and nice additions.

Scenario, I was going to add that of all the tangs, the RSPT is the most likely to eat corals. Hopefully your luck turns around.

I pray that I can keep him from eating corals. I did have a couple types of tangs in my tank so my algea level was low. Even though I supplemented their intake with daily romaine lettuce, nori or seaweed, I think they were hungry. As there was not a whole lot of algea in my tank, tangs being tangs went to pick at and eat my corals.

I increased my feeding schedules and the fish were fat...but they got a taste of the corals when I cut the feedings down a couple months ago when I had dino outbreak.

So even though I have a 135g tank, I will only keep this one tang in there and not add any other tangs. I plan on adding a couple more smaller scholing fish. That way the tang should have enough algea to graze on all day. (I HOPE)
