Thanks. She was my Christmas prestent.

If you don't have any other coral acting funny, I wouldn't worry about it.

My purple toadstool looked like death for a week, even worse then yours. I never did see a waxy layer on it, then one day I came home from work and it had skin blowing off of it, and by 24 hours later it looks it better then ever

i would say its growing also. At some point it will also have pieces hanging off of it like its breaking that means its just making more toadstools

It looks good to me. As others have mentioned, toadstools are supposed to do this from time to time. As long as it happens infrequently, monthly or so, it's not an issue. If it happens often, there could be an issue with your water quality. How often leathers do this can be an indicator of how happy it is in it's environment. Stress can cause this to happen more frequently.

I wouldn't worry about it though unless it does it again in the next week or so. If it does shed again soon, then you may want to bump up your maintenance and look for possible stressors.

I think though, if your doing most of the following; changing out carbon regularly, your skimming is running efficiently, your running GFO and are generally keeping parameters up to par, it's likely just the normal shedding process leather corals go through.
