Great pictures and thanks for sharing. I love the Georgia Aquarium. A must see for anyone visiting HOTlanta.

That main veiwing pane for the 6.2 million gallon display is something like 20 feet tall, 80 feet long, and a couple feet thick. Had to be built on site it's so big. ;D

The slide show I saw included the salt, If I remember each "bag" was a TON of salt. I believe it was said that they went through 70,000 of those bags.

In fact, they KNEW how many gallons the tanks were, but nobody could determine the total gallonage in all the pipes. So they weighed the salt as they added it, and once they reached 35 parts per thousand, they could figure out how much water they had.

I was also told that there will be snorkeling in the whale shark tank... they're setting that up.

An aquaintance of mine built the kriesels for the jellyfish. When the Japanese company who built that main viewing pane for the big tank everyone, including him, had to leave the building. He was understandably not pleased.

Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes pics. Bruce told me I could pretty much have free rein to go anywhere when I go but my back hasn't allowed that trip yet so pics are all I can go on. Thought I was going to go to MACNA and finally see it and then I re-injured my back a couple of months ago.
