well just thought i'd throw a few pics up of my volitan. i got him/her in november of 2009 and the most recent pic was taken a few days ago. i'm very intrigued by the color change taking place, much better than when i first got it.

It is kept with 4 damsels. 2 blue devil/1 domino(king of the tank)/1 4 stripe. The longest i've left him without feeding is 4 days and he hasn't touched my other livestock(yet). Setting up a 35g bowfront to move the other fish to so they're safe.

first 2 pics are old. sorry for the quality on the last 2 it was taken via my phone.

dont worry, he'll get those damsels sooner or later. I had one a little larger alone in a 125 with 150+ pounds of rock and a blue damsel (used to help cycle the tank). the damsel was MIA after 3 days and I was feeding every other day. what size tank is your lion in?

in a 55g FO right now. the lionfish makes a common "exercise" regim by swimming in the powerhead flow for about 10 minutes every so often.

Upgrading tanks when I move or if he grows too quickly hah.

ill try to snap some more hires pics with my actual digicam today.

Looks like mine too. My lion's eyebrows fell off too, it's too bad, I really find those appealing. But they tend to wear away as they get older. I feed my lion and puffer about 2-3 times a week. Last time I had a lion, I fed him daily and he grew like a weed! When I bought him, he was about 3" long. When he died at 3 years old, he was about 9" long. I learned to feed slow to grow slow.

wow until you pointed that out i hadn't even noticed the brows fell off, hahahaha. Yea i started feeding once a day now i'm down to about every other day and sometimes he's just not hungry so i extend a day. Whenever i open the lid to my tank if he doesnt perk up and swim up within 5 minutes ready to kick ass then i just wait a day.

here's a picture i took today of him perched on a fake piece of live rock. ignore the algae :)

Mine gets like that too. In the wild, they usually will feed, then go days before hunting again. Mine usually wants to eat every 3rd or 4th day now.
