nice. You had some patience with it.. cutting egg-crate is a daunting task for some reason to me..

    Thanks for the nice comments!

It's not bad. When I turn off the lights, I turn on the fuge light and slide on the top.

Don't think I didn't look! I guess blue egg crate isn't in high demand...

More than daunting - it's a pain in the butt! I actually played around with several types of pliers/wire cutters until I found one that cut easily and gave a fairly clean edge.

I have to ask, what kind of pliers were they? I would love to know anything that will keep little plastic pieces from flying about the room when working on them..

I was trying to find my pliers to describe them, but I can't find them....must be the old age thing....

Anyway, I first tried some long-nosed wire cutter thingies (do pliers have noses?) and that was a disaster - plastic flying everywhere. I finally dug around the tool box and found something that looked liked this. The shorter "nose" made it much easier to maneuver through the egg crate and I was able to cut fairly cleanly with these pliers.

All tools to me fall in a few categories - hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, saws, and thingies (which is everything else).

Lucky you on saving him! It's especially fun making these things for a bowfront - makes me appreciate squares, and rectangles....

Same pliers I use too. I use ones like this to cut stupid super huge frag discs too.

Lucky is right! I was standing right next to the tank making my bed and hear this splash right behind me..then a thunk..

I also appreciate built in overflows..built in returns..and hanging lights! It's like a puzzle getting the top back on lol
