And you have been doing all the "construction" projects all by yourself?

I pulled the sponge from the overflow box months ago, I didn't like it, felt it reduced flow and added gurgle. And to silence it even more I put rocks in the area next to the pipe thing to raise water level and now all I can hear is the pumps... I now regret pulling out the blue sponge thing from sump, I should have left it in there somewhere (although there really was no room) because of the pods that were probably there.

I'm the DIY person in this household. My man is good at assisting with such, however as far as coming up with the mechanical working of things in general that's what I do I guess.

Also it seems that I research and learn all the stuff about the tanks, teach him, then he asks permission to buy certain stuff. Especially after he brought home two urchins (one long spine and not good for my soft corals), a sponge and something else stupid home one day when the tank was only a few months old!!!

He's great though, we all have our roles!

edit: for example he is outright amazed that I could turn the wet/dry into a sump/fuge. Personally, I don't see the big deal or accomplishment, other than the fact it's better for my tanks.

I need my pyrex dish back for the kitchen though, it's a neat little size for kitchen use, unfortunately it's the only thing I could come up with the other night that would fit. I'd like to find a nice rubbermaid one like I used in the other fuge.

And about the woman thing, see, I was raised to not let my gender interfere with my mind. I may be a mother, house (un-official wife) and all of that but I have mechanical skills so I use them. Many times women get raised with this girly girly mentality and don't utilize what skills God gave them because of social behaviors and stereotypes. (Just my 2¢ on that.)
