    Hey!
    I am new here.
I am still upset that a coworker got me hooked as a saltwater enthusiast!
I gave up smoking to save money and then i get introduced to this hobby!

i have had a 55 gal Salt/FISH only system running since october.

i have had blue/green chromis since day 1 and they have survived every nuclear blast thats ever hit the tank.

every fish over 5 dollars i've ever bought has died in 7 days.

I have currently had a Clarkii in for 13 days ( a new record)
but he has a MASSIVE POPEYE. The store i go to has me treating the infection but it's getting worse.
i took the clarkii in for a "fresh water dip" only to discover loads of Parasites/gunk somethin' fallen off her in the first 5 mins.

    all my levels are great!

but is it parasites that has plagued all 13 fish i've put in and killed?

i do not have a U.V. Sterilizer. Could that help?

i can't blow anymore money w/o true answers or my wife will shut this whole operation down for good. i am on my last leg so i am tryin' to be careful! (cheaper end UV thats still solid??? Do they work???)

    thanx.

That is horrible. I am sorry to hear about your troubles. I don't have any advice for you but give it some time, I am sure someone on here knows what to do.

I'd try a new place to buy your fish. It sounds like they don't carry healthy livestock maybe?

If it was my tank I would go totally fishless for four weeks and then quarantine any new arrivals.

What are your parameters. In fact, I would like you to fill out the form at the beginning of the ASAP forum. Just in case there is something glaringly amiss that you have missed that one of us may catch......Your tank should be good to go at this point.......

And K+ for quitting smoking to do this.....Most excellent!!

I would have to agree with this statement, I dont think its you. Have you tried getting your livestock from a different LFS? Are you aclimating the fish properly? Luna

I also second luna and bogie sounds like the fish are not healthy to start with. May want to shop elsewhere and maybe also let the tank just ride out with what you have for a while.

    Just throwing thoughts out...

Make sure you don't get any (as little as possible) nasty LFS water in your tank.
