On the puppy training side it is a lot easier with a grown/trained dog already in the house.

Here I have 5 FW tanks, 1 SW Tank, 2 cats and 1 dog..

    Completeing the Zoo are 1 Wife, 1 Boy(12) and 1 Girl(9).. lol

I always get a kick out of these threads with words like "let him/her", "allow", etc. WTH kind of relationships do these people have? Trust and faith are beautiful things, if you just roll with it man.

She's not buying new shoes or a new outfit. She wants a living thing thats going to need a lot of attention. So I would hope the "allowing" part would come to play somewhere. I might not speak for everyone here, but if my wife came home with a puppy and didn't talk to me about it first I would have a problem with that. Although, one look at the puppy and it would stay. How can anyone turn down a puppy :) . But, I have "trust" and "faith" in her to not do something like that.

    have to compromise.

Get her one of these ;D

From having a few dogs over the years with my parents and me having my own puppy (9 Month old yellow lab) now, the older one is almost a teacher. Just hope the older one doesn't have any bad habits because that is what the puppy will pick up on first. Also by having a younger dog with an older one it is usually good for the older ones health. It keeps them more active and "keeps them young." I plan on getting another when mine gets around five. Good luck!

You can think about a shelter dog. I have one that was an owner surrender and he is the sweetest and most loving of my 4 and he was 4 when he came to us.

I misread your post the first time.
Now that I go back and reread your post I get what you were trying to say. Nothing like slamming your point home for you. LOL ;D
