Here is a pic of my xenia. I got it about 2 weeks ago. When I seen it at the petstore it was a lot taller and they opened up wider. They pulse, but they don't open all the way and its shrunk. The other xenia attached to the frag is doing good. Can anyone help me out on what to do?

I had my halides off in the pic so thats why its so blue.

Xenia is funny,it can thrive or die in the best or worst conditions.I had a few small stalks in an older tank that melted away and was gone for 3 months, then it came back bigger and better than ever.

edit-might also want to try a couple different flow rates and try moving around some to see if they improve

Move the xenia thats doing well away, it could be bothering the other type. Or it might not like where its at. Like he said above, its a wierd coral, i probably have over 250 stocks or more in my tank and they just keep growing..I probably get on avg a new stock every day somewhere.

I wouldnt touch the xenia that is upset. IME xenia goes through phases. It has it's ups and downs. Just let it be and the xenia will recover in no time!

I would seperate them. My xenia split into two and after that happened they both seemed to get stressed being by each other Im not sure what it was. Also i noticed sometimes they would do better in certain areas in the tank with more flow then other areas.

I haven't touched them and here is what they look like now. They look much better. Should I just leave them alone? I haven't done a water change in almost 2 weeks.

agreed with all of the above, xenia is a coral that will try to over power corals next to it, so if its another xenia, same thing, odds are that healthier one is stressing out the other, so I would move it away (the healthy one)

yeah you could, but if they are doing better then "if it aint broke dont fix it" typically xenia grows quite nicely and fast I tore one of mine moving some rock work once as it had attached to 2 rocks beside eachother, the part where it ripped just sprouted new parts and now I have more xenias lol

They were doing great when I had my eye on it at the pet store.. but when I got them home into my tank the one wasn't doing well and then today it looked better than it has so far..
