Mysteriously Reappearing Wrasse

    Odd? Not really. This is typical behavior for a leopard wrasse; disappearing once added to a new tank that is.

    This, however, is NOT typical behavior for a Cirrhilabrus wrasse. There's a reason it's been hiding; someone is bullying it into submission. Sounds like the Kole tang is a likely suspect. Cirrhilabrus wrasses will NOT withstand this stress long term; you need to remove the aggressor if you want to see your wrasse survive.

    i have 2 yellow wrass,1 of them is very shy,hardly ever see him?just when you think there may be a problem,there he is? strange fish,,lol

    It certainly may be problematic. If you have two yellow wrasses of the same species and both are males, it's quite possible the dominant male is pushing the other into submission. The one who's hiding won't last.

    i think its just strange wrass behavior,,these 2 have been together since day 1,,a year ago.

    Wrasses are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning females transition to male in the wild as harem conditions and space require. This transition can, and often does, happen in a closed system. If you now have two males, you may have issues.

    Any wrasse which hides the majority of the time is not behaving normally.
