    so just this morning i randomly saw this little guy pop up... anyone know what it is?

    Im wondering how these reproduce? could it be a bud off of this guy?

    That would be exactly how those macros reproduce. It looks to be somewhat like a shaving brush type to me. They send out a leader under the sand, and then build up from that.

    Awesome, thanks! its about 3 inches away so that makes complete sense... and i just got this guy a month ago :D they must be fast growers

    Very. I had mine for a month, and it had a sprout too. Then I found out that hermit crabs will eat them (I got the hermits after the macro), since I saw a few chewing on it.

    Is that a cucumber in your tank? Or an extremely zoomed in shot of a mangrove chute.

    just normal zoom with iphone camera... but its a mangrove trunk :)

    i think they r called pencil caps...
    If i get enough sprouts at a reasonable rate ill start selling in a few months
