Nope- he never showed up.. I think he is a goner at this point.. it will be two weeks on Sunday. I guess I made an $80 donation to my LFS. My wife was really happy about that one! ;)

I once put a Yellow Watchman Goby in and never saw him again. Sometimes the stress just does him in. I doubt you will find him after 2 weeks. You would never know because you would have no spikes and your clean up crew could have disposed of him very fast. $80 was cheap for that fish. They are semi-aggresive Wrasse. What other fish is in your tank?
    Good Luck

Other fish are Sailfin Tang, six line wrasse, algae blenny, orange spot goby, two ocelaris clowns. I just added a hippo tang tonight.

So you had the 6 fish when you added the Mystery in. I dont think it was your tank it was most likely going to die in anyones tank. Some fish that are not doing great but look good to you just can not handle the additional stress of the move.

Is your female Clownfish mean to new fish? Thats the only fish I can see being very territiorial. I had to get rid of my female Clown to add a Fairy Wraase. Did the Mystery Wrasse have any interaction with the other fish before he got lost or did he immediately hide?

My tank is an inwall with three sides painted black so when I tell you I saw this fish during aclimation and then hit the water when I put it in the tank, that is it. By the time I walked around to the front of the tank it was no where to be seen. I might have spent about $10 a minute to see this fish! Everything else in the tank is doing good, get snail eggs from time to time (actually had baby snails this morning) my clows are not agressive at all. The only time I saw them give chase is when someone goes in to their corner of the tank. I say let this be a lesson.. I thought twice about buying this fish as it was laying in the corner of the tank at the LFS. They said it was normal for that fish until it gets comfortable in the tank so I thought nothing of it. Apparently I should have.

just take it as an example of schrodinger's cat equation

hes both alive and dead untill you find him and then you wont know whether he was in the opposite state prior to being found hehe

just keep checking in and around rocks and try some live feed so where ever hes hiding he can find some food
