OK, this thread is going to be slow and take awhile to reach completion.

With that said, I'm sizing up a 90g tank that I will drill and add a skimmer bar(overflow) to go to a 30g, and with the DT tank that is 24" tall and 18" deep (front to back). I built a stand of 2x4/2x6's and 3/4" plywood, the stand that will more than hold the tank weight no problem.

Here is the step by step build of my stand using a real good design that has the stand built with no stress being added to any of the screws that is in it. (I put over 2 pounds of screws in it. 8)

I went and bought vents and lights for the stand. DIY's coming soon to explain.

Semi finished with the stain and water sealant put on, I also want to paint the inside white and seal it too.

The plumbing design is something I've wanted ever since I've laid my eyes on it. No huge overflow box foot print and up out of the way. The T'd off section coming from the overflow is for a little bit of raw DT water to go into the fuge to help with things in there. 8)

I also found a epic light mounting unit for my radions to be on.

Can you give a little more detail on how the oveflow will work?

    Subscribed.

Looks like a good build so far. The plumbing in those drawings is awesome.

It works the same as your standard Herbie overflow - two drains, one return line so it's quiet - except the actual overflow "box" is made of PVC pipe (withe holes drilled in it) instead of a glass coast-to-coast overflow. Apparently this way is supposed to increase surface skimming efficiency as long as water height is no higher the top of the horizontal PVC in the display.

There will be a 1" Skimmer bar(running about 38" across the water line) with a tenth of an inch slit in the top in two places with a space left in the middle to keep a bit of strength in the pipe, then from there it will go through 2 90's to get out of the tank. Then straight down to the sump where on one line there is a T'd off for me to trickle a bit of the raw DT water in the Fuge. Also at the top of the pipes standing on the back there will be two caps over it with small holes drilled into the top to keep down noise.
