Looking great so far! Are you using the eggcrate to stop fish from jumping? If you paint it black it will look nice but keep in mind that black absorbs lots of light and it being directly under your light could put a decent dent in PAR output.

Egg crate looks good. But I would use the clear screen from BRS or Lowes has it in their garden department. Then you can have more light penetration unless you are only going FOWLR.

I actually just removed the egg crate over my tank. Smaller fish (firefish, gobies, etc) can still fit through egg crate, and it was a pain in the butt trying to feed or work in the tank (even though I made some openings to work in). I have a canopy with glass tops, so instead I just covered the open back side with BRS mesh and left the top open. Much happier with this setup!

    As others have said...

You should ditch it in favor of 1/4" clear mesh. Egg crate blocks way too much light and does nothing to keep the little guys in the tank - they'll go right through it.

Thanks for all the input, and it will be a FOWLR for the first year for sure. And the egg crate is removable(easy)(just lifting it out with one finger is all thats needed :p so not an issue.) and for light passing threw the radions I have will work fine with the crate over the top.(tested on the low end)(but if it becomes an issue I will remove it...)

Measured and marked where holes were to be drilled.
(used cordless drill at first(drilled one hole 1.5 hours... found out it was garbage and smashed it against the house, went to Home Depot bought a cord drill and drilled three holes in 45 mins.)

Finished drilling holes for Skimmer Bar and Return Lines.

Taped all corners and edges and put the first coat of enamel on(flat black) using the wennie sponge roller +1.

Second Coat applied. Looking a bit better.

Final Paint is on and all the trimmings and holes uncovered. Lookin sexy!
