    Yea, I gotcha.
So with what I have in my tank, you think I'll have a problem over-skimming?

I would say yes, first off, remember, you don't have 40 gal. total, rock and substrate have displaced some volume. Soft coral like water with an ample supply of nutrients so you may pull too much out.

My system is about 50 gallons I think, but aye I do run a NAC6.

I have found that the skimmer likes to sit in about 10 inches of water. Can your fuge provide that?

I don't know how your refugium is designed, but if you care about pods, there is the potential to skim those out with this.

    Hey, Matt.

My fuge/sump is a 20 tall divided in half with eggcrate and the skimmer is sitting in about 10", working awesome so far. The overflow dumps the DT water into the fuge half, runs through a liverock wall, mangroves, and cheato, then through the eggcrate to the skimmer, return pump and carbon on the other side.
The skimmer doesn't put out any micro bubbles and is actually sitting right next to the return pump. I was worried about getting a million microbubbles in the DT, get none at all. I figure I am going to lose some pods since half the water leaving the fuge is picked up by the skimmer, the other half by the return pump.

Good arrangement. Yeah, I love my NAC6. It skims great and holds the waterlevel when you set with the standpipe really well. Pretty quiet too.

Yea, I'm very happy with it so far. Mine is extremely quite. For $160 I couldn't ask for much more.
Mine doesn't sit in a constant water level so i'm curious how it performs when the level drops a little. I have it set at level 5 in the amount of water it's in and it's perfect. I use a gallon water jug with an airline and valve for an ATO (I know, I know..I'm cheap but it kinda works;)). So I'm gonna let the water level drop an inch or so and see how the performance is affected.

BTW, I bought mine after I read your review on yours. So thanks.

Yeah, you can't beat this NAC6 for the money. Level 5? Wow. Mine is set at 2.75 - maybe it is a bioload deal. I suppose mine is still pretty low. Glad my review helped. :)

I've gone that route with ATO. It works, and pretty well if dosing. I used a kent marine float switch for years with a 5 gallon reservoir and it worked well for only $15. A much bigger footprint though.
