my friend texted me a pic of a fish he just got but cant remember the name of it. The pic is very blurry.

I can't upload the pic to the computer, but there are some distinctive features and I thought I would try to describe it:

color: black & white. kind of looks like a false eye on tail, but i can't tell

shape: has a completly flat tail fin. nothing protrudes out from the body. kind of like a copperband but no tail sticking out. It's just straight and flat. Also, looks to have a small soft dorsal fin sticking up.

I know it's not a lot to go on, but i figure it's worth a shot.

thank you for the try, but this isn't it. the false eye may not be a false eye. the pic is really hard to tell.

in the pic i have on my phone it has black and white stripes not dots. and the tail fin is completely flat.

The shape of the fish is like a triangle on it's side

    Ok,

Well did you try going to liveaquaria's site and looking at the variety of fish in each category?

Do you think it's an angel?

yep, looked through every page on there and aquatic connection. figured i would try to describe it here. i'll go over to his place tomorrow and actually take a pic with a real camera and post.

i'm thinking its in the butterfly category.

Well, let us know. A lot of different types of butterflies, the same fish can also look dramatically different depending on the geographical area it was collected from. :)

This is confusing without a photo. lol.

    On a side note - wouldn't a triangle on it's side...still be a triangle? lol.
