just out of curiosity, where did you here that? I certainly hope not from your LFS, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Correct! they are 100% reef safe, BUT they tend to not do well in captivity, mostly because we actually do not really know what they eat. Most starve to death and whither away, if it was me I would try and take it back. I see them decaying in my LFS's constantly, and they keep getting them in... Then I have one LFS that I go to and have never seen a linkia in there, EVER! and I have been going there for at least 4 years now. I am quite impressed when even a fish store know's not to carry them :)

well little is known about the linka and what it eats but I have done some reasearch and comes to find out that they live on bacteria and sponges. I have read that there is a bacterial slime that coats the outside of our live rock and that is what they sustain themself on. I figure with rock changes from fuge and other tanks I can keep a sustainable supply of food. I also have some sponges growing in the tank and maybe that will help also. When I said what is 100% reef safe I ment that there is always something that will bother something else. I forget what thread it was on but someone was having problems with a fish bothering a coral. Even if fish don't eat coral when they bother it I would call that not 100% reef safe. So go it with most of this hobbie you have to try it to be 100% sure it won't harm your tank. But we can learn from others and if a fish or invert 100% of the time bothers a coral then we can almost say without a doubt that it is not 100% reef safe. But then there are instances that some one houses a reef harmfull fish and it does not attack coral. So what do we do with that info. I guess we all just have to make our own judgements. Thanks all for the help and maybe my lincka will make it a few years. That is my goal.

i had a linkia star, and it was all over my coral when i woke up in the morning, i don't listen to my LFS, actually i NEVER listen to my LFS.. just up to you though, who knows, it may just work out for you but since nano reefer is SO sure, maybe you should just listen to him. Assuming that he is so certain, he probably has tried a few that is 100% reef safe.. which is definitely not the case, but it is DEFINITELY not 100% reef safe sine mine wasn't

well thanks for your consern but with anything in this hobbie I think there is nothing 100% safe. some time you just have to roll the dice and hope you don't throw craps.
