So i saw this fish and absolutely loved it. Has quite a personality and loves to stare at me. Was told it's part of the jack family but i can not find it anywhere. The LFS called it a Gold Bar Jack. Anyone have any clue?

it's a great fish. very easy to feed and gets along well with all his tank mates. It does like to blow at the sand bed to perhaps look for inverts, but has not gone after any yet. I am curious on how big he will get since it's supposidly part of the jack family and fearful that one day he may eat some of his friends, lol.

its also called a pilotfish or gold trevally, they say it gets VERY large and should not be put in anything less than a 250 gallon tank. it grows up to 3 feet

It sure looked like a trevally or a jack to me.

Being such, they get big as mentioned earlier, and will quickly outgrow your tank, as well as eat anything and everything.

Unfortunately they fight well, but jacks are usually not very good eating either.;)

nice, now i know exactly what i have. it really is a great fish, but i guess i'll have to get rid of him when he gets bigger as i dont want him to consume my tangs. i heard they grow slow.
