Ok,just acquired a 24g jbj cube in a trade.Just sold my 55 and after dumping a ton of money in my 65,budget is a huge factor,so i'm not dumping money into this tank but want to do something with it,so i need some cheap ideas people! (and No seahorses cosmo!:cheesy:).As a matter of fact it doesn't even have to be a salt tank,so no zoa gardens/maxi minis etc.Heres a few ideas i have so far.

1-Clean it up,set it up,sell it (i have enough spare sand and dry rock,a clean and running tank sells for way more than a dirty empty one),use the money for supplies/more eye candy for the 65g.

2-Set it up as a mollie/platty tank-I have natural gravel, decor and some nice silk plants (as nice as fake plant go ::)) already.Boring to me,but my kids would enjoy it,a couple cory cats and maybe some cherry shrimp.

3-same as above, except freshwater eels or some other suitable oddity

4-mantis palace with a bunch of cheap mushrooms-but really don't want the effort or cost of keeping two salt tanks going, but still may consider.

Throw me some ideas 3reef,what would you do with a good nanocube on a small budget and keeping it low maintenance?

BTA and pair of exotic clowns.

Don it's going to end up salt any ways.

Unless you do a planted tank but they seem more complicated that BTA and Clowns.

This tank has the standard PC lighting?

A paludarium would be cool. I have to admit, I'd never heard of those before until yesterday and I've been a bit fascinated by them over the past 24 hours. :)

Stop it Cheryl, you're not gonna use your jedi persuasion techniques on me ;).Love the idea, but nooo, lol.

And yes it is just the standard 50/50 pc lights which i'm not replacing,so anything more than shrooms is out as well as live plants if I go fresh.

Don't have a clue to what that is,lol, but it sounds cool.

Another thought was to mod the tank to a waterfalling fire newt tank, mayyybee.

you could always do a pest tank, throw a mantis in there with a bunch of pest inverts and bam you have a cheep SW tank that requires no work ;D

if not that then do a FOWLR and do a predator fish or snowflake ;D

This is good I LOVE frogs. Kids love frogs.

You can hear them chirping at night.

Just in case though my jedi persuasion, says frag tank with DIY LED.

You could go Blue Spotted Jaw fish, since it comes with a lid and make him the only tank inhabitant. Expensive fish but worth it if you get a healthy one.

    I like Gourami's quite a lot too.

Not really big enough for an Octo hmmmm.

Personnally I love the idea of a mantis tank. If you got a smasher you could get a pair of clowns as well.

Now i like that, some type of lizard/frog,etc terranium type setup.Never did reptiles,so i'd to do a little research on a few that catches my eye. This will be for the kids mainly,so can't do dart frogs/snakes/snowflake,can't be anything harmful due to the boys.

Do you just want my credit card number?;D
