That's a nice looking halide fixture. Did you really look at the mount to see if it will fit will on the lip of your aquarium?

One odd thing in that pic is it looks like the bulb is mounted toward the rear of the fixture, not sure what is going on there. :/

    The viper eh.

I was thinking about putting one over my 12 gal. I decided against it because I was moving away for college. I also thought that there might be over heating issues. Are you planning on adding fans to keep the tank cool?

    No overheating, open top

Ive got one my 24nc and Ive yet to see a better design in a mid level fixture. The three knobs allow you adjust the hieght, and is the most sturdy fixture ive seen where you can adjust the angle. Besides functioning great for the last 8 months, its the best looking halide fixture ive seen for the money. Alot of people rip on jbj, but to be honset ALOT of reef equiptment comes back to the store (me being on the recieving end of that). Most fixtures we get back are major brands.

Are the corals gonna need Actinic bulbs or will the HQI be plenty for them? It would be on a 24g and I would def go for the 150watt HQI Viper

I figure the open space of the tank would allow enough air flow to keep things cool

Should I find a way to keep the tank covered. That would be an odd shape of glass or acrylic I would have to work on

I was thinking of getting one from Marine Depot at $149. Was wondering about the fan thing. With 14k or 20k you shouldn't need actinics.
