So, when I first got married my wife and I wanted to get some fish for our bedroom. We went down to Wal-Mart and got ourselfs one of those kit aquariums. Long story short... when we bought out fish, we had maybe 2 inches worth of fish in the 10 gallon aquarium (.23 goldfish aren't supposed to last many years). And now its been years, and we have close to 20 inches of fish in there. Tank has never had problems (so never treated with any medications) or anything but with goldfish approaching the end of thier life expectancy its time to think about recycling!

So I've got two ten gallon tanks, and was planning on building a teak stand and canopy for them. One used as a DT and the other used as a refugium. It would be used in a corner so I could add some things like a calc reactor, phosphate reactor, etc. I was planning to have this exclusively as a frag tank, so no fish or anything (for the time being). So my question how much filtration does a tank thats running just coral require? Do Coral's release a form of DOC or wastes that need to be removed? I know that a bioload on inverts is very low but was not sure about the requirements of corals.

The plan I was hoping to have was, have an overflow fed ATS, into a refugium with a RDSB and chaeto, while the back of the cabinet (as it would be in a triangle design) having the two reactors. I know that have prestine water chemistry is required for tanks this small, so I'd love to be prepared!

Any advice and constructive critisim would be appreciated!

Bump, any info on the coral "wastes" or bio-load?
