That makes sense. Thanks for the suggestion.

A 14 would still be a good size. I kinda like the dimensions of a 20 tall or 20 extra tall. I'd need to figure something out with the filtration though.

I'd be moving to and from college. I can't keep them in my dorm over winter break (just over a month) and then over the summer. I also had an extra two moves because I went to a summer fellowship

OHHHHH! Well when it comes to tank shape you'll what it to have as much bottom surface area as possible. A 20 long would be good. No Collum tanks because it crams the fish.

a 20 tall would have dimensions of [FONT=Arial, Arial, Helvetica]24 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 16 3/4 which is longer than a 10-leader. I'm thinking footprint wise that may be the best but I will take a look around once I get home.

What is the best option for filtration? If I don't see a decent lighting system I may end up doing a DIY led top. That would be FUN!

Yeah the 20 tall would be fine. Just stay away from those ridiculesly skinny tanks.

    For lighting look into these:http://fishneedit.com/t5ho-ligh.html

    I'd go with a 4 bulb.

As for filtration, here's what I would do:

1 aquaclear 110 moded into a HOB refugium with chaeto

Another aquaclear 50 with a sponge, Chemi pure, and purigen.

That's would be good:) IMO, you don't need a skimmer on a tank less than 40 gallons. Weekly pwc are enough.

cool cool thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to look into doing DIY Leds though for the challenge. I won't be getting any corals for awhile anyway.

Awesome go for it! It'll be nice not having to replace bulbs every 6 months.

If you go with 20ish gallons what do you want as far as stocking?

That's a good question. I want to see what i'll have access to back home but I may not even be able to get fish into the tank before I head back to college. I've been poking around liveaquaria at some fish.

How does the shipping work with them? Is it included in the shown price? (Seems very inexpensive way to do it) or is it extra tacked on at the end like most sites?

Anyway one of the stocks I was thinking of is

    2x Oscellaris Clowns
    1x Firefish (Purple/Regular)
1x White Banded Possom Wrasse/Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse

I'm not sure where to start for a CUC. I was thinking of some Hermits and some shrimp but I'm not sure which kinds. Also, I'd love to have a starfish but I don't know much about them either.

I'm really looking for some bright fish with some personality. Do you have any suggestions?

For the CUC go to reefcleaners.org. You can even find them on here and just PM John. Very awesome guy to work with. I was very happy with my purchase.

Looks good! Shipping fish is ridiculous. On LA it's 30$. You could buy a 5$ fish and pay 30$ shipping!!!
