I am looking at starting a small 10g nano tank for my dorm room and I have a question about the lighting. I am planning on keeping softies for the most part. I have been looking at some clip on LED lighting and have found two I am interested in

My question is would it be better too buy two of the 36 LED's or one of the 60 LED's for a normal 10g tank? 20"X10"X12"

Karma for any one that answers :)

I bought the 21 LED model for moonlights. The clamp is really small and I couldn't fit it on the lip of my tank. The lights really have a spotlight effect, so if you hang one in the middle over your tank, I'll doubt it will give light from side to side.

You will want to probably get two to hang on opposite sides of the tank IMO. As far as the LEDs being enough light for corals, I have no idea about PAR in regards to LEDs, so hoping someone else can chime in on that.

From my experience with the smaller unit, it just seems that they don't put out enough light.

i dont think either of those would grow softies even, i would consider a ecoxotic stunner strip. they are not meant to grow coral but will do so alot better than those two fixtures and they are reasonably priced. or you could go with a par30 light. or two.
