The guy at my LFS says his nano is easier to take care of than his 75, but he's got alot of experience. I started out with a 20hex. Nano reefs are also good for people who have way more time than money.

i wasn't tring to "dis" nano-reefs but I was just curious on why someone would want a reef tank that small. Another thing if 55 gal. tanks are like pinheads in the ocean then what does that make a nano-reef.

As a matter of fact, today I talked my boss out of getting a 5g nano. The family has little experience with s/w tanks or f/w to be exact. Told them it would be to hard to control the parameters that the reef needs. Also said that if they were still interested, get at least a 30g fowlr to get their feet wet ;D in s/w.

Glad to hear thibs are going well N2S2. Putting any fish in any tank without letting it cycle for 8 to 10 weeks is taking a chance. Hope a few weeks is at least that long.

I agree with Craig, it's been long said that introducing fish into an uncycled aquarium is a death sentence on the poor little guy. Then again. You could hurdle over this by adding cycled rock and sand. How? Pull it out of an already established tank. ;D

Just a reminder I have a 10 Gal Nano. That is actually starting to look pretty nice.

Nor was I trying to dis your choice of names ;D I was jus trying to make a point about personal choice.

Nano's make you pay attention to every lil thing, every grain of sand, every square inch of rock. They're challenging and really not for every one, specially newbies. The parameters can get outa hand with just a days slacking. Sure can make some really nice tanks on a budget though. FWIT, mutliple tanks will burn you out, take it from me ::). I've gone from 1>30 tanks and back to 1 in the last 5 years. Guess I'm jaded though, I still have around 10k gallons at work :-/ that need taking care off.

Nice to see you around again Dave, welcome back! I'm adding a 10g fug right now to my 30g. Can't beat the benifits of macro algea ;) Sure could use a bunch of mangrove pods for my tank at work ;) ;) ;)
