Just started a nano reef tank. its only 3 gallons. salinity levels are at 1.024 and filteration is excellent. i just added live rock as well. the guy at the fish store told me adding some frozen brine shrimnp food to my fishless tank can speed up the cycle process: however there is a cloudy water issue. is this common on the first day in adding live rock, and could it be from the food added. thank you

That's normal for really new tanks. Especially with fine sand

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It's normal. It's either suspend particles from the sand or rock, or you have a small bacterial bloom from the decaying shrimp and any die off from the rock.

If it gets smelly add some activated carbon or change out what you have.

It's only the first day you have a ways to go before you add anything.

+1 to the "or you have a small bacterial bloom from the decaying shrimp and any die off from the rock.". Make sure that you're running carbon!
