Yeah snails always crawl out of the water. No harm just if they get too close to the top pop them on some rock

Ref ur dead snail, I would remove it as it can release phosphates into your tank and unless you have crabs. Not much will eat it

As bullets said, snails crawl out all the time. I had a specific kind a couple years ago that would crawl over the rim and sit on the front glass all night then crawl back inside in the morning. First noticed it when I caught my dog chewing on one! Anyway..I wouldn't sweat the loss of a snail. Yeah..it's going to release some stuff..but it's just a little nassarius..the hermits will take care of it.

Nassarius are sand dwelling, mine do come out of the sand at night to scavenge. I've never had them stay on the glass, they will always burrow back into the sand during the day. The behavior you mentioned doesn't sound normal for a Nassarius. What is your salinity at?

My nassarius snails also spend most of their time under the sand with a little feeler sticking out to find food. They come out at feeding time or to scavenge occasionally. My nerites and ceriths sometimes sit on the glass partially out of the water.

mine stay in the sand most of the time, but every now and then they will climb up my glass and then free fall all the way down. It's kinda funny.

They will come out and eat my shrimp pellets that sink. They like those.

Mine are in the sand most of the time until food time for the fish. I have seen one eat a blood worm like spaghetti and was amazed! (Yes I know they eat meat but still cool to watch.) Then I have a few who climb up the glass and bomb what is below! Funny indeed. What you are describing though, does not sound like normal behavior. How are your params?

Mine do the same thing. Come out when I feed, then totally miss the food & climb the glass, fall off about halfway down, then eventually find food. Maybe yours are hungry.
