You're right, lighting effects algae growth and corals (and other not so obvious things) - but all in all if people expect analysis its quicker and easier to fill out the form. Besides, we might see aging bulbs and point it out thus nipping the next issue in the butt - its all a win/win

However what does old bulbs have to do with what the poster is asking? All i am saying is why dont we try to help that ask for a list of things that have no revelance to the problem?

I understand what you are saying - I still agree with the full list of questions as an general all around "cover the bases" type of deal. I suppose you could make a more topic oriented list if you have extra time to kill :)

I agree - it's important and it's a lot of information to fill out ;)

Many of the questions do not change over time. What I have done is copied it onto a Word document, answered most of the questions & saved it. If I have a problem, I only have to answer a few questions. (I can also do a "save as" & I will always have the info in case there is a pattern).

Acutally, I'm hoping I never need to use it....:laughings

Bump-- Jakerma... How are you making out with your Tang? All-- Let's debate/fine tune what should be on the list in a different thread.

Jakerma- Would love to help and I certainly hope things have improved. Let us know.

The fish has since died.... To answer some of the questions before...

    Ammonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0
    Nitrate - 0
    dkh - 9
    Ph - 8.3
    Calcium - 480
    Phosphate - 0

Why would the age of the tank have any bearing on suddenly strange behavior? No livestock had been added recently. There was a grounding probe installed about two weeks ago. could this have had any effect?

Well incase you think I'm talking about the actual age of the glass.. (the tank itself ) I'm not.. I was referring to how long has the tank has been set up.
    It means A LOT.
