Every time I feed my tank my naso tries to eat the food and then spits it back out. It also goes after the food like it wants to eat but then ignores it at the last second. I've only seen it take a nibble or two at some algae sheets but it doesn't eat that either. I've tried mysis, brine, pellets, gel food for herbivores but it doesn't help. I've also tried garlic supplement.

I'm afraid this fish will die any day now, it's so skinny you can see right through it. Is there any other food I can try? Should I get some red algae sheets, maybe it only eats the red stuff? Or should I try to hatch some baby brine shrimp? Any help us greatly appreciated.

I've only had him for close to a month. He's in a 125 with a yellow and blue tang although there is no aggression between them. Yesterday I put him in a mesh breeder in my tank so the naso tang doesn't have any competition for food but it's still not eating.

I also put a piece of seaweed attached to live rock in the breeder but it doesn't look like he touched it.

i would think, the mesh bag might be stressing factor for him. if you've had him for a month then all aggression should have normally ceased. did he just stop eating or he never did? what exactly do you feed all your critters?

If I remember correctly he ate pretty good at the beginning but then just quit eating. I feed all my critters mainly mysis and I add algae sheets every other day. I also feed this pellet food soaked in vitamins once in a while that I bought from bulk reef supply.

I was also worried that the mesh might be a stress factor so I will take him out of it tonight.

Hmm you want him to at least eat something.... Try tossing a couple small opened clams see if he will go for that while we find a long term solution

did you soak the nori in garlic? I'm so sorry you're experiencing this....it's so frustrating when fish won't eat. It may not be a bad idea if you have the ability to feed some live brine, to try that...the clam is a good idea too...He just may be internally sick and you may not be able to diagnose......reduced stress, varied diet, and he's in an appropriately size tank - I can't think of anything else.....hopefully, he'll come around

I have not tried the garlic on the nori, so I will also try that. I soaked some brine shrimp in garlic and it wouldn't touch that either. I just wish it wasn't so freaking hard to get some live fish food around here.
