I've been eyeing a Naso tang at my LFS for 3 weeks now.
He is HUGE! and beautiful he even eats pellets now... So I asked him on friday to hold it for me. Till thursday. And gave him $20 dollar deposit..
He is selling it for $120...

But now I'm having second thoughts... I'm afraid he will die in my tank and $120 down the drain.....

The reason why I'm afraid is because 2 months ago i lost my blue regal and my potters angel almost at the sametime.. Regal had ich and potters an internal parasite...

Everyone else in the tank is healthy and happy.

So.. Question is... Should I buy?

If you want him I think you have room in the tank, acclimate him carefully, leave the lights out for the rest of the day after you bring it home and you should be OK.

I do have a cleaner shrimp in the tank already :) and he is pretty big too.
It's just that he is An expensive fish... ( he would be the most expensive fish I would get if I do) and well... I would hate myself if he were to die.. I'm crossing my fingers and doing water changes to make it as best as possible.
Still have that little niddle on my back though.

Um, I don't know about the size in the tank; nasos are pretty big when they're full grown. Like, 17 inches big. Keeping a very active fish that's 1/4 the length of the tank doesn't seem right to me.

Yeah I guess so... I'll call in and see If I can get a smaller fish instead.. At least it would be easier in my pocket...

nasos are the easiest to acclimate to tank life. they are so laid back and passive towards others... the perfect tankmate.
I have had a few experiences with naso tangs, IME they do not get ich easily at all, they take nicely to human interaction, and they love to eat their greens (A LOT of nori)

$120 for a Naso? Does it dance the jig? Talk? Perform magic tricks? My LFS has Naso's for $24.00...
