have you also tried frozen foods like Mysis, krill, even bloodworm?

its good to have a varied diet, although in the case of Tangs and other herbivoures
its also good to have some form of algae/ strips/ sheets available for them to browse on

pellets and flakes are OK, IMO, but I have not tried to wean any saltwater fish onto eating them exclusively and prefer to feed frozen foods as the staple with flakes and pellets on occasion

Being that the tang is an herbavore algae should make up most of its diet ;)

I feed mine algae a strip a day split in half. I read where they should have it three times a week.

I "try" (and i say try because my naso is a pig) to keep alge strips in the tank at all times. Mine loves the stuff but it will eat anything i put into the water.

Algae sheets provided 2-3days per week. Brine or blood worms are excellent frozen options. My tangs also love Spectra Thera + A, but then again, what fish doesn't? Angels chow down, tangs chow down, even triggers chow down on Spectra +A. I highly recommend it for a flake option.

I rubberband a raw sheet of Nori a day for my (4) Tangs and FoxFace rabbit to a rock and drop it in the tank. By the time I come home it's gone. I watch them throughout the day and they take turns picking at the rock. I just picked up a 50 pack of Nori for 25 + shipping. That's about $350 a year on Nori for them. Fat Bastid's. I also feed different varieties of frozen foods every other day. I've tried as much as possible to cut back on flake food because of phosphate levels.
