Anyone seen this? we are in Hypo salinity now to combat ICH. has been that way at 1.009 for 7 days. all other fish are good. Naso seems a bit slower today and has these blck blotches on him. Never seen this before. fish is eating like a PIG and otherwise acting like a Tang.

Probably a skin condition due to the hyposalinity treatment. I would think it is a rash.

I would hope so. none of the other fish exhibit it. the fish is however pacing less tonight.

Fish is looking better with no treatment. no telling what the issue was.

I would lean more towards a bacterial/parasite side. I have see these once on one of my tangs and multiple times on one of my clowns.

Never has been an issue and they have cleared up quite fast with no long term issues

It was very strange. the fish looked better today with a few spots but not as bad. but at times as his color changed they were more noticable

yeah, depending on mood nasos can go anywhere from black to really light grey...

I wouldnt worry about them unless they get worse... do you add vitamin c to your water or with food

what.... me add something to the water... Nope havent yet. I barely have enough salt in the water as it is LOL!!!

that said, I am feeding them Formula 2 flake that I have had very good success on the tangs with. never had an instance of degenerative disease such as HLLE or anything else for that matter. they get that daily and the two tangs have to share half of a nori sheet daily. Naso usually gets more than his fair share with that big mouth.

haha nasos sure are pigs! :)

But i add vit C on occasion for the health of my corals (sps dominant) and as a side effect, it also naturally dissolves through fish skin so they uptake it too. Macros will also use it for growth... but not on an extremely noticeable scale
In addition it slightly raises ORP for short periods of time so breakdown of detrus is faster. I recommend adding it to anyone
