I bought a Nassarius from my LFS last Sunday and it buried itself in the sand after acclimation. I haven't seen it since. I have seen its siphon though. It just won't come out.

When it gets hungry, it will pop out of the sand instantly when you put any meaty bit of food in the tank. Then it will bury itself again, of course.

    Cheers,

They are nocturnal as well and will come out scavenging at night.

+1 though mine also come out when they smell food in the water.

Same I have 5 or 6 in my tank and I never see them, only time they come out is when I feed my fish or if I take a flashlight to the tank at night I can usually find a few, nothing to worry about

I think you may have a misconception of how nassarius behave and what their diet consists of. They are carnivorous scavengers which live in the substrate.
