what exactly do you mean by cause problems? I have nassarious snails and they are great, always eat the left over food and everything. Serpent stars you have to make sure you get the right kind. Some will kill sleeping fish so choose wisely.

I had a few green brittle stars for some time and the only issue I had was knocking over corals.

Brittle stars are safer then serpent stars though. serpents are the one that have been known to take out fish.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Nassarius gets my vote over Serpent star. Serpent stars are really cool come in great colors and interesting to watch, and efficient scavengers. After having them over the years and having fish go missing I no longer keep them. Nassarius is also a far better at sand stirring invert IMO.
