Natural way to rid of hair algae

I am aware of the problem at hand, as I have stated in another post I am trying to nurse an acquired problem/tank back to good health. After almost 3 months of hand picking and frequent water testing and changing the issue is almost under control aside from problem areas where it has embeded itself in the stalks of anthelia. The rate they are growing at I am contemplating pulling the contaminated stalks out and letting the fresh growth come back.

 

I concur on finding the source. Good chance it's a feeding issue or perhaps lighting is on too long or bulbs are old.


My bi-color blenny eats mine but there isn't much and this isn't his main food supply.

Emerald Crabs will take care of it if it's under 1 inch long (the algae I mean) IME.

Chitons also will eat that stuff. But they are slow.

Hermits will too to a degree.

I have dwarf planaxis snails because they are tiny tiny and can get in all those small tight places the bigger snails can't get to.

 

thanks guys....i'm gonna have to look into a reactor as well as a good clean up crew cause my side walls and back glass are covered in hair algae right now and I know my bulbs arent old enough yet but it is just bugging me and I want the problem taken care of
