Need 5 gallon's of Salt Water at 1.025 with no reader ?

    Ok i was doing a late night water change cause i like to do it when the fish are sleeping anyways i ended up stepping on my reader and braking it.

    I need to mix 5 gallons of water to 1.025 to get my tank running again

    I got 5g of R/O water and i need to know how much salt to add in cups ?

    Instant Ocean or Reef Crystals

    I have both so witch ever is easier for you.

    For IO it's 2.5 cups.

    But regardless of brand, you shouldn't use it the same night you mix if that's the direction this is going.

    I mixed reef crystals @ 1-3/4 cups/gallon for a thick mix. I think you would be fine/safe at the recommended 1-1/2 cups/gallon. If you can slow drip it you would be better off.

    I'm old and dusty right now but pretty sure one of reef crystals claims is it can be used within an hour of mixing?

    If I am ever in a hurry to fill a tank, I go by my LFS (even though I think they never change the filters on their ro/di evidenced by a nice breakout of diatoms.)

    I did 2.5cups of Ic in 5g and let my old sump pump do the mixing its 1120gph (its to powerful for my tank) and pointed up. and i taste tested the water and added 1/4cup and it was pretty close.

    I GOT A NEW READER TODAY !!!!
