Recently set up a 75g FOWL tank, it's been up for a few months now so it's time to start shopping around for a good skimmer. I know a sump is better, have that on my reef tank and I can tell you from experience they're a lot better, but this is a fun tank so I wasn't putting the extra $$ in it.

The tank is pretty well stocked now, and I'm sure it'll eventually be overstocked :p, but that's okay, like I said its a fun tank. Anyway, I need a good skimmer, not the best top of the line but not a piss of $hit either. It has to be a Hang on the Back model! I'd like to get one rated for 75g or up, can be in the 100s if need be, not looking to spend more then $200 if I can help it,

    Any Suggestions?

Coralife 125 super skimmer works well on my 55g, and there are many other good ones in a higher price range.

AquaC Remora or Octopus BH-100F. I have a feeling the Octopus would do a better job on this one. I believe it is rated a bit higher. You can drool over the Deltec MC500 or the MCE 600 also.

the octopus HOB is a helluva skimmer. Also you can look at the cpr bakpak 2. Those work pretty well also.

Bak-Paks are very temperamental. I have one on my 20G and would not recommend it to people that ask for my opinion. I just cleaned out the buildup in the bio-bale last weekend and it stopped skimming altogether and now am looking at a growing diatom and algae problem.
I would go with an AquaC Remora, though I have never used an octopus.
