Hey everyone this will be my first but not my last post here. I have been reading a ton on this forum and all great info (the best so far) ;D

this is my first SW tank (fresh for 10 years)
The tank in now 6 weeks old and about to add a clean up crew
But I have this stuff all over my cheo in the refugium and it's now getting all over the main tank.
I need to know if it's good or bad

its cyano bacteria or more commonly known as red slime algae. its just part of the cycle should go away if you do the cycle right

    Welcome to 3reef

Looks like a little cyano and the dark stuff looks like an alga.

All part of the cycle process. The cyano can be reduced by greater flow and higher alkalinity and pH. A CUC will help also along with controlling the other algae. You most likely need to manually remove the dark stuff.

    Thank you so much :)
Now it's covering my cheo in the refugium - will it effect the cheo from growing or choke it out?

Yes gently or pull it off with your fingers.

Watch the hitchhiker, it looks like a majano species of anemone. They can be pest if you have high nutrient levels in your tank. If you keep the nutrient levels down they can be controlled and one or two kept if you like the looks of it. Any remedy for removal of aiptasia works against them.
