Need a new Skimmer!

Not to bad at all on the algae. I have a little hair algae. Other than that none. Ohh I'm also very lightly stocked with only two fish and two anemones and a couple snails. Checked levels on the 18th all was good. Maybe the light load on a 125G there isn't anything to skim.

 

If you are not overfeeding, I would suggest that there likely isn't much to skim with such a small bio load. To answer your initial question, when I set up this latest tank in February, I decided to try the BM Curve 7 and I am extremely impressed with it's performance.

 

Mr. Bill is right on. I don't get why people always obsess over dark skimate and which skimmer can produce the darkest. It's directly related to excess dissolved organics in the water column. If your skimmer slows down production, be glad that you have a low nutrient system, not upset bc u think your skimmer is broke.

 

+1 Whenever purchasing a skimmer.Make sure it has a good ,efficient, and reliable pump!!

 

++++ to vinny on that, get a reliable good family cheep to replace pump with a well designed skimmer. bubble Magnus are good and fairly cheep but the pumps leave ALOT to be desired. The reef octopus skimmers are essentially bullet proof but are expensive.

At any rate test the skimmer you have now overdosed a bit an see if it increases production at all.
