I'm in the process of picking out my equipment for my larger tank which with my 210gal DT and 75gal sump I'll be close to 300gallons. I will mostly be keeping SPS and LPS the softies I have now will be moved over but its not alot. So my question is which is the best in-sump skimmer for under 600$ doesn't matter internal or external cause I will still have to build the baffles in my 75gal so I can make anything fit. Thanks in advance for help and advice ;D

I'm not saying it's the absolute best. But I think it's a phenomenal value. I'm using a Reef Octopus RO-PS-3000int and it's perfect for a tank our size. (I also have a 210g display)

The sump doesn't add to the calculation for a skimmer unless you plan on adding bioload for it... Really the whole rated for gallons thing on most any filtration is silly. You really need to consider feeding habits and bioload. Either way, the RO PS 3000int will handle your system with ease and fits your budget.

What do you both like about the RO over another?

Reef Octopus Extreme SX 250 Protein Skimmer i was actually looking at the one above this one the other day cause it has the italian pumps that are suppose to be amazing.

I normally feed coral about twice a week and fish which im planning on having some larger fish in there as well (dont know what yet) but want some large fish lol That is deff in my budget 200$ less then what i am planning for so i could use that on a dosing pump or something else.

I have a decent to high bio load. I feed 1 sheet of nori and 2 cubes a day plus oyster feast 2 times a week. The day after oyster feast I pull a half cup of gunk, it does exactly what I need it to do!

I went the Avast DIY route. I wanted to do an acrylic kit, and it performs as well as skimmers that cost twice the price. Also, it's MADE IN AMERICA.

Whatever you decide, consider lph and power draw.

I chose reef octopus because they r good skimmers. Reliable. Somewhat cost efficient. and they are based just outside baton rouge. So replacement parts take no time to receive.

Im thinking either RO is the way for me to go, did you have to build a stand for yours in your 55gal sump? I think its the same height as my 75gal
