I just discovered that the bracket on my HOB skimmer is a bit too small for the top rim of my tank which will prevent it from sitting properly. What needs to be done is to cut away a piece of the plastic that supports the glass cover in order for the bracket to fit the way it's supposed to.

My question is if I go ahead and cut a piece off from the glass support am I looking for trouble?

I have attached a pic to show what needs to be cut-away.

    Thanks in advance.

there would be no trouble . go ahead and cut . the top rim is there to cover the top of the glass and has nothinrg to do with the support of the tank.
