Do the silicone where just the panes meet first. Then go back and do all the rest at once. If you let that silicone sit on the tape for more than 5 mins, it may start to set and you will have a bit of a rubbery pull when u peel the tape off.

well, how did it go? remember to wait 3 days before getting it wet to make sure it is fully cured. Dont rush it. I actually had an area I didnt trust and added a bit more on top of it.

I think it all went well. Here are some photos. I will probably wait a week for it to dry. In the meantime I will be working on getting a OM 4 way and doing a bottom drill setup. Oh, also gotta work on making a stand also.

yea sure man. you did good. guess the tape trick worked. I made mine a bit to wide, but it turned out good none the less. give her 3 days then fill it up. did it not have a bottom frame? my GC 180 does it is not braced or anything, just a black rim. I wish I had the black silionce on it, but it also has the starphire.

Yup, just a steady hand i guess. This tank did not come with any exterior trim or bracing. It just has the eurobracing on the bottom edge that doubles the thickness for the front, sides, and back panel to adhere to. That's it. I'm kinda nervous about the tank having some deflection and possibly splitting at the seams over time so I am in the process of devising an aluminum rod bracing for the middle of the tank. Trying to see if it will be subtle enough to keep a clean look.

I saw one somewhere... this guy has like an 8' long tank that was completely rimless. he used 3 alum braces that went across it. pretty darn slick. all his plumbing was underneath the tank and ran outside to a cistern buried just outside. it was one hell of a sight. Might have been on RC or somewhere... that said, rimless tanks are very popular and I know several in my club have them up to 48x24x24.

I would think you would be ok. if the tank was designed to be like that. have you called GC and spoken with them?
