Hi jkat21 - GSP, is a very hardy coral, which means you have a few options that you would struggle to use on more delicate coral species
I would pick as much off as you can using your finger tips
then use a new toothbrush (soft) to clean it

I would do this over a bucket of tank water - that could be thrown away afterwards
and repeatedly dunk the coral in the bucket to rinse of any loose algae resulting from your scrubbing

I have cleaned GSP coated rocks using the above methods and the GSP from an established tank, starts to open again on the same day as treatment

might be different with a new colony, they might take a couple of days to fully open up

    Steve

Doing what Steve nicely put will work great and if you still have any tufts left, just place a snail there to finish the job by consuming the missed or hard to reach areas!
