Need an ID

I have these long feather looking things coming out when the lights go out. They sway in the current but when I hit them with the light they withdraw back in to there little crevice in the rock. They extend out about two inches and are white. I can't get a pic of these little boogers. Any ideas.

 

i think i have the exact same things but not exactly sure on the name and i think they are a type of worm. the ones i have extend about 5+ inches maybe, i know mine are harmless filter feeders, not sure about yours

 

I hope it is harmless. They do look like some kind of worm when they withdraw and I now have an explosion of them. I saw one that looked like it had little eggs or something on it at its base. Do you have a pic of yours.

 

ive never actually seen the worm part, just heard about them.
