Hi im looking for a chiller dont want to spend much but need a good one think of spending at the most 400 +/- on one please help to look for one. Interested on the OCEANIC 1/10 price 440 but its for 50 gal and i have a 72 gal. So for my tank i need the 1/6hp but the price is 650 and i dont want to spend that much just to control 2 or 3 degrees changing in my tank.

If you think the oceanic 1/10hp can do it in my 72 i will be happy to hear about it if not what do you recomend.

I prefer to have it with heater included if not its ok but i prefer with.

QUESTION. do all the oceanic have chiller and heater included?

Please help me decide THANK YOU.

They don't include a heater, just a plug in the back that will control your existing heater.
Look on craigslist for a good used chiller, much cheaper--just make sure you have them demo it first.

whats the less temperature differential you can put on the chiller.
EX. If i set the temperature on 78 and i want the chiller to turn on at 78.5 can you do that or does it has to be grater.

I suppose they are all different but if I set mine at 26.5 C (80) it will come on at 27.5 (82)and turn off at 25.5 (78 )

I know that your in Texas, but check out Craigslist, either in TX or check out South Fla. I saw some chillers on Craigslist, I just cant remember who it was. I beleive he was/is tearing down his tank and selling everything. Luna

    I am looking at the
Aqualogic Cyclone for our 72 bowed. Would we need the 1/4hp or will the 1/5 work? Also, what tank sizes would the 1/5 service ? 1/4?

A chiller is something you want to go bigger, not smaller. There are a very few companies that make very efficient chillers where they are technically undersized, JBJ being one of them. If you go with a "right at the borderline" sized chiller to save a $100, that $100 savings will get chewed up in 2 months due to increased energy consumption.
When you get a proper sized chiller, it will take about an hour or so to chill your tank to your desired temp. Getting a smaller one will stress the chiller and you will see it running for hours and struggling to get it to lower the temperature right. Next thing you know, you have an electric bill that is $100 more than before you got the chiller. A chiller should only add about $5-10 a month if it's properly sized for a moderate sized tank (<200G).

Ordered the Aqualogic 1/4 hp which is rated for 125-250gal so that definitely should suffice for our 72 bowed and have breathing room for our next tank upgrade...
