That sucks man you just gotta do whats best for the dog dont make him linger because you will be upset if he is really struggling to get around and barely controllng his functions then it might be time to say oodbye but dont give up hope take him to the vet he may have some medical issue that could be resolved .having lost 2 dogs myself i know how hard it can be. Best of luck hope it all works out for you and your pooch

Aww, man i am so sorry! That is one of the toughest decisions we as a pet owner must make. Right now it is very hard to accept, but it was in the best interest of the animal! It is very common later (at least i know with me it always was) to question your decision....dont ever do that! You made the best decision for your animal and it was a very kind, loving decision. I wish at times we could make that decision for our human love ones!

Hang in there bud! Keep the good times in your mind!

    Thanks for the support everyone...

Thanks, Chris. The part in bold(above) is basically what the vet said & that it would maybe be the best option for us. So that's what we did.

The dog was loosing a lot of muscle, & at 51.6 lbs & not eating, it was time to say goodbye.

We noticed a "bump" on the dog's head(not until we got to the vet). She[the vet] said that that "bump" was part of the bone close to his skull. Which that is normally the last part to lose muscle.:(

While I am sad, I know what we did was the best option & was good for Buckeye.

Dont question what choice you made, believe me just from what you have described you made a very (HARD),but proper choice..im sure if the vet ran a bunch of test they would have found many underlying probs...its all about quality of life...Im very sorry for you, just try to hang in there, you gave him tons of love and the best yrs you could..

Sorry to hear but know Buckeye is in a better place and enjoying himself. Remember all of the joy this dog has given.

He had many wonderful years with you and went happy and loved. My thoughts are with you during this hard time, but find comfort in the fact that you made the right choice and he doesn't have to suffer any longer.
